Security

PinKey® Touch is a functional and 100% secure device for memorizing, exchanging and using data and information.

To protect the internal software, pinKey® Touch draws inspiration from the framework of trusted computing: every device makes use of a cryptographic chip fitted with a couple of unique keys which are impossible to modify even by the owner and which are capable of generating other keys for the cryptography of data.

Using this system, it is possible to verify the authenticity of the software executed by the device and to discard any programs not authorised.

Furthermore, pinKey® Touch allows the data storage encryption with the latest generation of algorithms (AES-256). The cryptography keys are not known by the user and are used by the system only after biometric recognition of the owner.

The device saves the codes necessary for accessing the encrypted data in a special memory contained within the biometric chip. Such codes are used and then “forgotten” at the end of any operation which requests them.

The codes are requested by any operation to the biometric sensor which releases them only after a correct biometric identification of the user.

PinKey® Touch features a mechanism of software update via the internet on the basis of patches released directly by the mother company Card Tech, or by certified partners.

This policy allows the quick resolution of possible security problems of the applications in use in the device, guaranteeing a rapid and capillary distribution of the patches. PinKey® Touch therefore cannot be cloned and cannot be used in the case of theft.
